Great new ad campaign by Absolute - cool kids apply.
It's safe to say that turning 25 feels right. My cloud of indecisiveness, with all its questions, hopes, fears, dreams and expectations finally seems to be dissipating, clearing a more direct path for me to follow.
Like every year, my birthday crept up on me with the impending notion that a huge birthday celebration would equal a happy one. However my special day was quite the contrary, opting for a casually planned day at Dolores Park, a night out on Polk's infamous Cinch, painting my kitchen wall with chalkboard paint, Sunday brunch in Hayes Valley with a good friend and a delightfully playful afternoon exploring universal phenomenon with my amazingly supportive family at San Francisco's new Exploratorium on Pier 15. Yes, it's good to be alive and 25!
The feeling is familiar: the monotony, the dry boredom of being a kid with nothing to do. The room is slow-motioned, muted. Time passes on unbothered. But the three young kids are restless; they can’t stay still.
Suddenly, it dawns on them that behind them lies a chest. They open it. Inside is their kind of treasure – props, toys, costumes – and their heads are filled with possibilities.
The room is the beach, the couches are towering sand dunes over which lies the open ocean. Binoculars afford kaleidoscopic views. A cape and goggles are the uniform of the grand explorer, a Native American headdress the high honor of a great warrior, a sword the arming against the unknown.
Straddling a world of youthful play and galactic wonder in a dazzling hypnosis, their minds can't be stopped, can't be put away.
